Blocked nose and a high temperature:
The main signs are a temperature, generally lower than 38.6 and a blocked nose which can disrupt appetite and sleeping pattern. Doctors may prescribe medicine to treat the high temperature and an aspirateur to clear the nose, as a baby is unable to blow its own nose. Antibiotics fight the secondary infection but do not speed up recovery, hence rhinopharyngitis can last up to 5-7 days. |

Succes s fully clearing the nose.
Generally babies cannot blow their noses until they are about 2 years old therefore it is important to use an electric baby nasal aspirateur. Gently position the tip at the entrance to the blocked nostril whilst gently closing the opposite nostril with your fingertip. Use the aspirateur for 2 to 3 seconds than pause to allow the baby to breath normally again. Repeat as neccesary. |
